Not getting a lot of writing done: usually I need to get out of the house, but that's not working well with the weather [way too fucking hot]. Need to get back to work on Stone Sand Water and figure out how to clean/fix it up, continue working on the next story. Anyone want to read over Stone Sand Water?

Watched Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle again, and I love it. Always leaves me feeling happy, and the dub is just perfect. Seriously, this is one of my favorite anime dubs.

Not all that much reading, either - I need to spend less time on the computer. Some cookbooks, part of A Mad Catastrophe by Geoffrey Wawro about the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the run-up to WWI. I suspect interesting comparisons could be made between Franz Joseph and Nicholas II. The library wanted it back; I'll have to keep a lookout for a used copy.

Tried to play the Blackwell games and ended up noping out: I didn't really enjoy the gameplay, and ... yeah, the lead really deserves the restraining orders she gets hit with. Then I spoiled myself for the plots of the later games. Ugh.

The Watcher in the Woods has been remade for Lifetime, premiering just before Halloween. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA-8PBIobkA. According to some interviews, it might be more ghost story than SF. [this is one of the cases where I think the movie is better than the book; the book is heavy on the 'pretty blond Venusians saving us from ourselves' aspect of ufology] Anjelica Huston as Mrs. Aylworth. Has potential.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWVAigtoOmA - first trailer for the new movie made from Margaret Mahy's The Changeover. The cast looks great, but I have mixed feelings about it otherwise.

My wedding is fast approaching, and while I think Matthias and I have that under control (it'd be a bit late if we were still running around planning it, given the wedding is in two and a half weeks, after all!), we've only barely begun planning our honeymoon. All the flights and accommodation are booked, but we haven't yet started to plan what we actually want to do in the places we'll be visiting: Budapest, Vienna, and Prague. That's where you come in.

I had great success earlier this year asking my Dreamwidth circle for recommendations for things to do in Iceland when visiting with my mother -- people made fantastic suggestions, and the two of us were able to put together a good itinerary, and we had a fabulous time. Does anyone have similar suggestions to make for any of the three cities Matthias and I will be visiting?

Things we like:
- art galleries, museums, cool old buildings/architecture. We wouldn't want to spend the entire time doing nothing but visiting museums, but one or two in each city would be nice.
- walking, especially in quirky/pretty/interesting parts of cities we've never seen.
- good food and drink. He likes beer, but will probably have done investigations of his own and have that covered. I like coffee.

If anyone has knowledge regarding public transport (if there's some kind of 24-hour travel pass or the like, or if we need to pay on buses with exact change, or other local quirks to public transport systems), that would also be super helpful. In all three cities we'll be staying in hotels that are reasonably central. We will be in each place for roughly two full days and three nights.

Thanks in advance!

* My neck was actually in good enough shape to use the computer for a half hour last night. I put some clips down! But oh noes, I put a feels clip down, and getting on with vidding instead of just watching that over and over again? Tough times.

* On the subject of vidding, Fall Equinox sign ups are open :D

* You can get the game Jotun for free on Steam atm. Don't know how long it's going to last, but it looks beautiful and you get to play a viking lady out to prove her worth to the Gods.

* The new Dr is a lady? GOOD STUFF. Now let's pray we don't get an annoying, white boy companion. I might actually have to start watching it. Meanwhile, I'll settle for watching the joy of my twitter timeline, interspersed with mockery of outright stupidity. I mean, ain't that a gem?

* Florida's Walt Disney World now has plans of adding a Star Wars-themed hotel. And they're going above and beyond. Employees will be in costume and in character at all times, you'll get an identity of your own (and I do believe costuming as well), and all the windows? Will show only outer space. (!!!)

Personally, I would like to petition for more hotels with outer space windows? Gimme a sparse, space-feeley room and THE UNIVERSE OUTSIDE MY WINDOW. Think about it, you don't even have to pay for a good view, as it'll be programmed into every single room ;D

* Note to self: RE-UP YOUR MOOD THEME BEFORE PHOTOBUCKET SWALLOWS IT WHOLE.

IT LIVES!

So, at [community profile] vidukon_cardiff I had the immense pleasure of getting to vid alongside other vidders. It was 😍 and 🚀 and 😭. I hope everybody gets to experience this at some point, and with such a lovely and enthusiastic bunch as I got to share it with.

The way it worked was, we got split into groups of four, each given two memory sticks with six random movies and a timestamp to fill in the ever so epic Meatloaf song chosen by the brilliant [personal profile] brokenmnemonic. We all had a great time, and most people ended up sitting there through lunch, tinkering with their end of the timeline.

Then we all passed it off to [personal profile] lithiumdoll, completely unaware of what other people stuck in their bit, and she stitched it all together in time for us to watch it at the con. And a most serious time was had ;)

May I present to you fine folks: The Frankenvid! :DDDD

So. Managed to completely fuck up my neck by, ah, sleeping. Yeah. And I woke up to pee two hours before my alarm as well, and my neck was fine then. First time this has happened to me, and it is no fun.

Actually anti-fun to try and use my laptop right now, bah. Ow. Whine.

Wanting to make a post for days and days, like about how I'm watching Xena now. Or how VidUKon got me to relax and love vidding again with our bonkers fun-times collab, so now I'm also making an overly-literal Xena vidlet. #Funsies

Or about GLOW, which I finished right before starting work again. Or my trip to London/VidUKon and the awesome people thereabouts. Some articles and such I've stumbled across on twitter. How I'm going to be an aunt in not too long.

But, ow. So, here's some icons I posted, bye!
